Mercury Removal
Law prohibits health care providers from recommending that mercury fillings be removed due to health concerns; but I can advocate mercury filling removal because they crack teeth. Here’s our procedure for safe mercury removal as recommended by the International Academy of Oral Medical Toxicology (IAOMT).
Mercury Removal:
- Use of a non-latex rubber dam to prevent you from swallowing any debris
- Pure oxygen canula to prevent mercury vapor inhalation
- High volume evacuator at the site for initial debris removal with continuous water irrigation
- Secondary evacuation outside the mouth via mercury-trapping air filtration
- Slow, soft drilling to prevent an aerosolized mercury plume
- Waste-water mercury trap to protect our delta and bay
