Mercury Removal

Law prohibits health care providers from recommending that mercury fillings be removed due to health concerns; but I can advocate mercury filling removal because they crack teeth. Here’s our procedure for safe mercury removal as recommended by the International Academy of Oral Medical Toxicology (IAOMT).

Mercury Removal:

  • Use of a non-latex rubber dam to prevent you from swallowing any debris
  • Pure oxygen canula to prevent mercury vapor inhalation
  • High volume evacuator at the site for initial debris removal with continuous water irrigation
  • Secondary evacuation outside the mouth via mercury-trapping air filtration
  • Slow, soft drilling to prevent an aerosolized mercury plume
  • Waste-water mercury trap to protect our delta and bay

Your health is important to us which is why we follow these guidelines set forth by the IAOMT.
